Mood Board
This is my mood board for my genre, Fashion. When taking my photos i will be focusing a lot on my models face and how her different styles of makeup stand out, I will also focus sometimes on her clothes and jewellery she is wearing. I will take a couple photos of her foot wear and her eyes/lips.
Research of my genre
Fashion photography Today reflects a lifestyle, an attitude, location, styling, make-up, hair, and photographer's
vision. I like the idea of fashion as it's not just one main things, Fashion can consist of footwear, clothes, make up and parts of the face (eyes, lips ect).
Some of the artists i am going to look at are:
A London based photographer with an innate understanding of colour, form and interaction between subject and surroundings. Ross's incredible understanding of light, and perspective allow him to create both still and moving image that are highly evocative and holds the imagination -which has paramount in both his campaign and editorial work. His high energy work blurs boundaries and re-evaluate modern fashion, beauty and portraiture photography adding impact and understanding through the images he creates.
One of rosses images looks quite plain and doesn't have very vibrant colours, however the women doesn't look very happy in this image either so maybe this is the women's story, that she isn't leading a very happy life. In another one of Ross's images he is only showing the women's lip downwards so that we can see the women's outfit, i quite like the style of this as its like a hidden identity such as lee Friedlanders work. He does this with quite a few of his images were he only shows from the lips downwards, i quite like this style as you get to see the models outfit which can kind of identify wha type of personality she/he has, so although we can't see her face to see her identity we can see the clothes she is wearing, which shows us what sort of person she is. Most of rosse's image are quite plain and bland and the others are in black and white so very plain. i quite like this idea because it can show emotion in the image and make people think deeper into the photo its self.
A native of Chicago, Jerry Avenaim got his start in photography as assistant to legendary photographer Patrick Demarchelier. Upon venturing out on his own in 1985, his first assignment was a foreign edition Vogue cover of (then rising star) Cindy Crawford. Basing himself out of Milan, he began to work for Italian Vogue under the direction of Editor in Chief Franca Sozzani.
Throughout his career Jerry Avenaim's photographs have been seen in almost every major magazine worldwide, including Vogue, GQ, Glamour, Vanity Fair and Newsweek. His list of advertising clients have included, Merle Norman Cosmetics, Phat Farm, Guess, Ford Motor Co., McDonalds, Twentieth Century FOX and Warner Bros. One of Jerry's photos is a women laying down with a white dress and brunette hair, she is laid on a gold background which stands out a lot, there is a lot of bright colours which stand out, this catches peoples eyes. There is another image with a white background but the women is also wearing white but because her hair is dark it stands out a lot witch draws attention to her face.

Marco Tenaglia divides his time between Rome and New York, and has had his work featured in publications such as GQ, Chaos, and Muse Mag, and has done commercial work for numerous big clients. Now Marco is known for shooting beautiful black and white photos, without ever using digital retouching tools like Photoshop. In one of Tenaglia's images he has a women in a black all in one. In this image he has the women standing in front of a wall which looks very light. This makes the women's outfit stand out a lot more than it would if the background was dark. I like this image very much because the women has lots of accessories on and the pose she is doing looking like she is standing proud as if she is really important. In this photo the women is bang on in the middle of the image, which to me can sometimes be quite boring, however in this image i think it looks good with the women right in the middle because as soon as you look at this image my eyes go straight to the middle of the image. This might be because the background is quite plain and nothing is really going on, this can be a good thing as it makes the women stand out more. In Tenaglia's other image i have chosen he has use opposite colours again, for example he has dressed the women in white with a dark background. This makes the women stand out a lot more than she would if the background was light like her outfit. All of Tenaglia's images are black and white, i like his images in black and white as i think it shows a lot of emotion in his pictures. I like this image with the women in white because she looks really laid back and calm, i also think there could be a story to this picture because the women looks like she is thinking very deep. I also think the way he has made both of these women stand out so much makes them look quite important.

The chosen genre I would like to develop in
Fashion
I would like to do Fashion as my genre as i think this will be a really fun experiment to do, i also have a lot of different plain walls which i can use as a background. Although i don't have really expensive dresses like most models for this genre i can do my models make up really wacky and professional. I can also make my model were a lot of stylish things and accessorize her with jewellery and hats. I can also style my models hair is different ways to go with different outfits and can make her look really unusual.
I have a lot of different styles of clothes so that my model isn't wearing the same sort of outfit each time and doesn't look plain and boring. I will make my model stand near different walls so that i have different backgrounds, i will also make my model do different poses as if she just did the same pose all the time it would look boring.

Where I can produce imagery
I can produce these photos in lots of different locations such as:
I can take pictures in the modles house as she has different patterns of wallpaper which will look good on some of the photos for the background.
I could use both mine and the modles garden as i think having a fence in the background would look good, and there is concreate and grass in both of our gardens which may also look good with her laying on the grass/concrete or a big log (such as the picture bellow)

I would like to use nice patterned wall paper such as one like this image i have found, i think that this will make my image look more colourful and interesting to look at.. This will also make the image have more detail.I would also like to use nice simple plain walls such as the image on the right. This will make my model stand out a lot more and will make most attention on my model rather that the wallpaper, as having a wallpaper that is detailed may be distracting and will make the audience look more at the wallpaper rather than the model.
