I am happy with most of my images I have taken, however some images i am quite disappointed with and could have gone better. I am really happy with the images in the studio that I have taken off Emily as I think these images look really professional. In the studio I made Emily do lots of different poses compared to the other images I took at home, however I think this worked really well because Emily is a confident person and I was making her do poses which I thought were confident type ones, however I don't think my images would have worked if I made Emily do confident poses if she was shy, or doing shy boring poses when really she is confident, so when I was taking my images I really had to think about my models and their personalities. I thought some of the images from home looked really good for example the one with the girl and the bag, that same model in that image, other images with her in looked quite good, as she is also a confident model. However some of my images could have gone a lot better. For example, the first ever model i chose was very shy and didn't really like having her picture taken on her own, i didn't figure this out until I had taken a couple of image of her, as she looked slightly unconformable and didn't look like she was enjoying it. To resolve this i chose a different model to try and get some more images that I would be happy with, and by doing this it helped and I managed to get some images I liked and was happy to edit. However, with the images I didn't really like when it came to the editing process I wasn't happy with the image, which made me put less effort into editing them than I normally would have. One of my favourite images is where Emily has her arm up near her head and has a lot of room on her left side. I like this image a lot as I thought about how I would take this image quite deeply, I thought about what pose would look kind of casual and natural but confident at the same time, and also had to think about weather I wanted my model to be serious or happy, however I chose my model to be serious as I also wanted this image in black and white (which I wanted before i even took the image) I chose to have her serious as if I put this image in black and white it would bring out more emotion and make the image more serious as you only have black, white and grey colours, however in colour you would have reds and blues(happy colours) but because i wanted this image to be serious I put it in black and white to bring the emotion out more and get rid of those happy colours which were stopping the image from being as serious as I planned.
Some artists i had researched about were Ross Kirton, Jerry Avenaim and Marco Tengalia.
By looking at these artists it helped me to understand what sort of images i would like to produce and what sort of style i wanted to go for, which was mainly black and white images. Ross Kirton takes a lot of images of his models outfits rather than having her face showing, I decided to try this out with a couple of my images and i didn't feel any really worked for me apart from the one with the prom dress, which i liked as i made my image look quite vintage and old, which is the sort of style i like. Jerry Avenaim works more with magazines and promotes shampoos and make up, however i liked his photography as he has a lot of bright colours included in his photography. (something which Ross didn't). The photographer i liked the best was Marco Tengalia because he showed me a really helpful tip to do in my images. Marco uses opposites in his images, for example, he either has his women wearing dark colours and a light background or lights outfits with dark backgrounds, i like this techniques because it makes the model stand out a lot more, this style works best with black and white.
I have made nearly all of my images black and white, i am happy that i have done this because it makes my images show a lot more emotion and makes the background and outfits look opposites which makes my models stand out the most in nearly every picture i have produced.
I would say to new photographers thinking about fashion to research a lot about the genre first before just taking images, as i didn't research as much as i should have and i think it would have benefited me a lot more if i took my time to research, I would also tell new photographers to think about each image before just taking the picture, think about the lighting around you and check your settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) and make sure your background isn't too busy. I would also advise that you think about the space you have and plan appropriate places to take your images. I would also say, think about who you are using as a model and make sure 100% that they are the right person to take part in your images, as after all, all of the attention is going to be on your chosen model, so they need to look the best they can.
I think the most important part of my images was thinking about the composition and the vantage point, and also the lighting as you don't want your images to turn out to grainy because of the light.
Next time i would think more about my images and how i am going to take them before i capture them, and think more about the surroundings and props i could have used to make my picture interesting and different. i would also think about who i would choose to be my model and make sure they are right for the chosen genre i picked.
